According to the Order #102 of February 05, 2013 on the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030, the Government of the Republic of Moldova state the three main objectives for the national energy sector:

ensuring security of supply;

competitive markets development with further regional and European integration;

ensuring of energy sector sustainability and combatting climate change.
The national energy targets and strategic objectives were established in accordance with the obligations taken by the accession to the Energy Community Treaty and adoptation of EU legislation for the national energy sector.
In accordance with targets and strategic objectives for the national energy sector, implementation of 2nd and 3rd Energy Package and requirements of EC Directives, SE “Moldelectrica” concentrates in modernization and reconstruction, renovation and extension of the transport network infrastructure. During last years were finished several projects:

modernization of 330 kV substation equipment (Chisinau, Straseni, Balti substations);
-
change of substation transformers at Chisinau-330kV substation;
-
reconstruction of 110 kV substations;
-
reconstruction of 330 kV power line;
-
construction and commissioning of new 110 kV power lines;
-
implementation of SCADA and MMS systems;
-
construction of new interconnection power line Falciu-Gotesti
-
feasibility and environmental study on 400 kV power line Balti-Suceava.
At present the specific objectives of SE “Moldelectrica” are the following:

modernization and rehabilitation of the transport network infrastructure;
-
extension of interconnection lines with Romania: construction of Suceava-Balti and Staraseni-Ungheni-Iasi power lines;
-
extension of interconnection lines with Ukraine.
