General Information
The EIC code (Energy Identification Code) is a unique 16-character code used across Europe to uniquely identify entities and objects in the energy sector (electricity and natural gas). The EIC code is also used for data exchange with participants in the European Electricity Market. The EIC code provides access to electronic platforms for interconnection capacity allocation and cross-border electricity trading.
According to the provisions of ANRE Decision No. 283/2020 regarding the approval of the Electricity Market Rules, every participant in the wholesale electricity market (producer, supplier, or system operator) is required to register with the Transmission System Operator. Since August 2018, the Local Allocation Office (LAO No. 64) for EIC codes in the electricity sector has been functioning within S.E. "Moldelectrica," allowing participants in the electricity market to obtain EIC codes.
